| WPSL veteran Shannon Cross nets Player Of The Week honors as she led Orange County to two wins over the weekend |
Courtesy of the Women's Premier Soccer League Official Website @ www.wpsl.info SACRAMENTO, CA (06/21/11) - Its now a month before the end of the regular season after this past weekend's action in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL), and the stretch drive has begun in earnest in all five conferences. While some individual performances helped keep their respective teams in the post-season race, others helped cement the top-of-the-table status for their sides.
The Orange County Waves of the Pacific Conference had their toughest test of the season, and after falling behind by a 2-0 score to the San Diego SeaLions, it took a combination of team play and individual achievement to come out with the 3-2 victory. In that vein of thought, we name WPSL veteran Shannon Cross as the WPSL Player Of The Week in the sixth edition of our 2011 weekly awards.
