WPSL TEAM OF THE WEEK V
Weekend of the goalkeeper as Eclipse Select's Erin Dees (above) & NYAC's Tatiana Saunders are named WPSL Co-Players of The Week

SACRAMENTO, CA (06/13/11) - If the previous weekend of action in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) was a showcase of the respective offensive attacks of our member teams, this past weekend proved to be the opposite. There were a lot of tight results in key matches with teams battening down the hatches while scoring key, timely goals.

In two key division matches in the East-Mid-Atlantic and Midwest-North Divisions, two young & up-and-coming goalkeepers would notch shutouts against teams who are considered the cream of their respective divisional crops.

Therefore, the performances of New York Athletic Club's Tatiana Saunders and Eclipse Select's Erin Dees against two-time WPSL champion Long Island Fury and 2010 WPSL Semifinalist F.C. Milwaukee, respectively, earn the duo WPSL Co-Player Of The Week honors for the fifth edition of our weekly awards. For the full lineup of the WPSL Team Of The Week, see below:

F Lindsey Holmes (MADISON 56ERS)
The soon-to-be University of Wisconsin Badger facilitated the attack in the 4-2 win over Iowa Rush in Mid-North Division action, scoring two goals in their Summer 2011 opener.

F Tori McCombs (BOSTON AZTEC U-23)
The University of Michigan standout was a constant threat on the attack in the 4-0 East-N'East Division win over SoccerPlus CT, driving balls into the box and taking on players.

MF/F Courtney "CoCo" Goodson (SAN DIEGO SEALIONS)
After netting two goals in her first game for the SeaLions, the UC-Irvine All-American scored the game-winning goal in the comeback 3-2 win over the Los Al Vikings in the Pac-South Division.

MF Claire Zimmeck (BOSTON AZTEC BREAKERS RESERVES)
The former William & Mary star & WPS veteran was a constant offensive threat for the defending WPSL champions, scoring the insurance goal in the 2-0 East-N'East Division win over New England.

MF Colleen Williams (F.C. BUCKS)
The University of Dayton playmaker makes her third straight WPSL Team Of The Week appearance, scoring the game-tying goal & assisting the winner in the 3-1 East-Mid-Atlantic victory over Chelsea Metro.

MF Kim Yokers (BAY AREA BREEZE)
After being out for over a month, the former Cal-Berkeley, California Storm & F.C. Gold Pride midfielder scored a goal in Saturday's Pac-North win over San Francisco.

MF Aly Wagner (CALIFORNIA STORM)
The former U.S. Women's National Team star makes her second WPSL Team Of The Week appearance, dominating the center of the field in a 2-1 Pac-North Division win over the West Coast Wildkatz.

D Kika Toulouse (ORANGE COUNTY WAVES)
The former University of Virginia center back anchored the Waves defense, leading them to their third shutout in three games in the Pac-South Division win over 2010 WPSL Finalists Ajax America.

D Sarah MacIsaac (AJAX AMERICA)
The former University of Connecticut defender and WPSL veteran was a strong presence for Ajax over the weekend, and assisted on the game-winning goal in the 3-1 Pac-South Division win over Claremont.

D Emi Lawson (NORTH BAY F.C. WAVE)
After going down to 10 players early in the match, the Cal-Berkeley central defender was key in keeping Tiffeny Milbrett & the Bay Area attack to only one goal in a 1-1 Pac-North Division draw.

GK Tatiana Saunders (NEW YORK A.C.) - WPSL Co-Player Of The Week
The U-19 England international & soon-to-be Dartmouth College keeper recorded 11 saves for undefeated NYAC to in a 2-0 shut-out victory over two-time WPSL champions Long Island Fury.

The University of Portland keeper held two of the best attacking forwards in F.C. Milwaukee's Sarah Hagen and Laurie Nosbusch scoreless in a 0-0 Mid-North Division draw in her team's season opener.

HONORABLE MENTION: F Kelly Lewandowski (WEST COAST WILDKATZ) - the Loyola Marymount forwa provided attack with quality target play in a win over Clovis and a loss to California; MF/F Shakira Duncan (GULF COAST TEXANS) - the West Florida star notched a goal and an assist in a 2-1 Sunshine Conference win over Brandon F.C.; MF April Perry (SOUTH FLORIDA STRIKERS) - the former All-WPSL selection performed well as an outside midfielder in the team's first win of 2011 over defending Sunshine Conference champions FSA Freedom; MF Alicia Rutz (PORTLAND RAIN S.C.) - had a goal and an assist in the Rain's 3-1 Northwest Division win on Sunday in Spokane; GK Taylor Collinsworth (OREGON RUSH) - got the 3-2 victory in net on Friday night vs. Portland Rain U-23, and followed that up on Saturday by coming on as a second-half substitute and knocking in the final goal in a 3-1 win.
