WPSL TEAM OF THE WEEK IV

SACRAMENTO, CA (06/06/11) - After shaking off any early season rustiness, the member teams in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) saw their respective offensive attacks go to the next level this past weekend. When it came to the voting of the fourth edition of the WPSL Team Of The Week, the competition for "first team" spots was just as frenetic - as the league office had to deal with its highest voter turnout of the season.

After all the dust cleared, two players helped lead their respective teams to two victories over the past week and brought both sides of the attack to their opponents: goals & assists. Icelandic international midfielder Katrin Omarsdottir was the cog in two wins for the Orange County Waves (2-0-0 Pac-South) and after her first-ever WPSL player blog entry, midfielder/forward Megan Mischler scored and assisted the Boston Aztec Breakers Reserves (2-0-1 East-N'East) towards dual victories as well.

Therefore, Omarsdottir and Mischler have been named the WPSL Co-Players Of The Week. For the full lineup of the fourth edition of the WPSL Team Of The Week for the Summer 2011 season, see below:

F Sheree Gray (NEW YORK FURY)
The former Penn State and Saint Louis Athletica standout scored two goals in the exciting 4-3 win over the F.C. Bucks, which was played prior to last weekend's WPS Philadelphia Independence/Atlanta Beat match.

F Kristina Larsen (ORANGE COUNTY WAVES)
The WPSL Player Of The Week selection continues to find the net, notching three goals and an assist in wins over Los Angeles Premier F.C. and Los Al Vikings. Her work rate & movement off the ball was good for a standing ovation in Saturday's win over LAPFC.

F Sarah Hagen (F.C. MILWAUKEE NATIONALS)
The U.S. U-23 Women's National Team member, UW-Milwaukee standout and 2010 Midwest Player Of The Year picked up where she left off last season, as she scored a hat-trick in their opener vs. the Iowa Rush.

F/MF Megan Mischler (BOSTON AZTEC BREAKERS RESERVES) - WPSL Co-Player Of The Week
The former West Virginia star helped lead the Breakers Reserves to wins over the Albany Alleycats and the Seacoast United Phantoms this past week, scoring two goals and three assists while being a constant offensive threat.

MF Katrin Omarsdottir (ORANGE COUNTY WAVES) - WPSL Co-Player Of The Week
The Icelandic international and Cal Bear star controlled the midfield in both wins for the Waves in the Pacific-South Division, while also notching a goal and two assists.

MF Mariah Whitaker (INDIANA UNITED)
The Atlantic-10 All-Rookie Team selection for Xavier University played a huge part in Indiana United's 3-1 victory over Midwest-South Division leader Fort Wayne F.C., as she assisted on the first goal and scored the second goal which secured all points for "United."

MF Nina Watkins (NORTH BAY F.C. WAVE)
The Stanford Cardinal midfielder was impressive in both wins this weekend for the undefeated Pacific-North Division leaders, playing effectively and simply while scoring goals in the victories over the Clovis Sidekicks and San Francisco Nighthawks.

MF Kacey Richards (NEW ENGLAND MUTINY)
The former three-time All-BIG EAST selection for the University of Connecticut was rock-solid in her first two matches for the undefeated Mutiny, notching a goal while proving to be a midfield presence in a 1-1 weekend doubleheader vs. Albany.

D Jaime Beckwith (BOSTON AZTEC BREAKERS RESERVES)
The former Sam Houston State University star played nearly every minute of two shutouts this past week for the Breakers Reserves.

D Emily Janss (ASA CHESAPEAKE CHARGE)
The former WPS defender has made her presence felt in her first season with the Charge, proving to be a defensive leader for the 2-0-0 Mid-Atlantic Division side who shutout Chelsea Metro on Saturday by a 3-0 score.

D Haley Chamberlain (NEW YORK A.C.)
In her first season for New York A.C., the University of Notre Dame defender scored the first goal of the match in the eventual shutout victory over CFC Passion.

GK Lorna Brownlie (GULF COAST TEXANS)
The former Scottish Youth National Team member and current University of Mobile (NAIA) recorded two shutouts for the Sunshine Conference newcomers in wins over Palm Beach United and the South Florida Strikers.

HONORABLE MENTION: F Lauren Battung (NORTH BAY F.C. WAVE) - the Cal star scored twice to help the North Bay Wave remain unbeaten with a 3-2 win over Clovis on Saturday; F Nicole Wilcox (PORTLAND RAIN S.C.) - last week's WPSL POTW continued her goal-scoring frenzy this past weekend in two more wins for the Northwest leaders; F Emily Wade (F.C. ST. GEORGE) - FCSG continued their solid start to 2011 via Wade's game-tying goal against last year's Big Sky-North champions Phoenix Del Sol; MF Colleen Williams (F.C. BUCKS) - the Dayton standout makes her second straight appearance on the TOTW, scoring two goals for the Bucks in their 4-3 loss to the New York Fury; MF Kayleigh Hines (MILLBURN MAGIC) - capped off a fine perfomance in midfield vs. the NJ Blaze by scoring the team's final goal in the 4-0 win; MF Jael Hagerott (SPOKANE SHINE) - the former Whitworth University midfielder scored a blistering free kick in the 79th minute against the Oregon Rush to secure a 1-0 win on Saturday; MF Kristen Parr (OREGON RUSH) - scored the first goal in Oregon Rush WPSL history in their first-ever WPSL win, a 1-0 verdict over Spokane Shine in front of 500 fans in Bend, OR on Friday; D Jenna Roncarati (BOSTON AZTEC U-23) - the All-BIG EAST honoree for Providence College had another dominant performance in the back for Aztec U-23, helping the team record their second straight shutout; D Allie Rogosheske (F.C. DALLAS) - the former University of Wisconsin standout has led the rock-solid FCD defense in the team's first three wins, including Saturday's 2-1 win over Houston; GK Yiana Dimmit (AJAX AMERICA) - solidified the 1-0 win for Ajax on Sunday vs. LAPFC with many spectacular saves, including a blocked breakaway; GK Cris Lewis (PORTLAND RAIN S.C.) - the 2009 Big Sky Conference Defensive MVP from Portland State University has led the Rain defense to four consecutive shutouts.
