Christensen Leads DeAnza College to Final Four

San Francisco, CA - Kristi Christensen, a San Francisco Nighthawks player since 2004, led DeAnza College, the 7th ranked team in the nation, to the 2006 California Community Colleges Women’s Soccer Championship Final Four and was named All-NorCal First Team.
During the regular season DeAnza won the Coast Conference South Divison with a conference mark of 11-0-1. In the post season, DeAnza defeated Santa Rosa JC (where she was defensive captain last year) 2-0; Yuba (22-0-1, the top ranked team in California and the fourth ranked team in the country) 3-0; and Modesto (the 8th ranked team in the nation and Central Valley Conference champions) in a thrilling double overtime, shootout. DeAnza lost to Cypress College, the top-rated Southern California team and the top seed remaining in the tournament.
Christensen is an attacking defender who played on the left side for DeAnza and plays on the right side for the Hawks. In addition, during the season Christensen scored three goals, had an assist, and took all goal kicks and the majority of the set shots. Christensen is completing her sophomore year.
