Sacramento, CA - On Sunday night, in searing triple digit heat in Sacramento, the San Francisco Nighthawks (2-5-2) lost 8-2 to three-time WPSL Champions, California Storm of Sacramento (7-0-1) who are currently ranked eighth in the world, in a Women’s Premier League (WPSL), Western Division game. The Storm is led by Brazilian superstar, Sissi.
San Francisco scored twice on the Storm for the second time this season, the only WPSL team to score more than one goal against the Storm this year. The Storm has allowed a miserly six goals in eight games this season with four of those goals being scored by the Nighthawks. Striker, Christina Quintero, and midfielder, Anne Guina, both sent beautiful, well-placed shots deep into the back of the net for the Hawks.
The Nighthawks will be on the road this week with games against key division rivals. On Saturday, July 1, the Hawks will square off against the, always competitive, San Diego Sea Lions (6-1-1) in San Diego and on Sunday, July 2, the Hawks take on the Los Angeles Ajax (5-1-0) in L.A. The WPSL is the top women’s soccer league in the U.S. and one of the top women’s soccer leagues in the world today.
