San Francisco, CA - After 30 years as the frontman for the Nighthawks and the WPSL, Dick Cross announced his retirement from "active" participation in the soccer world. Cross, with a "small" amount of urging from the "softer" part of his life, determined it was time to spend more time with his wife, Andrea. Dick is a founding member of the WPSL and has worked tirelessly over the years to manage, recruit, organize and procure funding not only for the Nighthawks but for the WPSL in general. His incredible contributions, both personally and professionally, to women's soccer have ensured that young girls up and coming and women desiring to play at a competitive level after before, during and after college will have a venue through which to realize that dream. A straw poll of the players indicated that they hope that his retirement is actually a "sabbatical". Rumor has it that Cross was spotted at a recent Nighthawk game in Golden Gate Park.
Head coach Robert Sackey (www.sabisoccer.com) recently welcomed daughter, Emma Koi Koi Sackey, into the world. The Nighthawks celebrated her birth with Robert and Madeline at their local hangout, Pyramid Brewery. Robert has been appointed by the government of Ghana to be the nation's representative to the USA to bring Ghana soccer players to compete in the MLS. He has also taken the position of Director of Coaching for the Mavericks Soccer Club. Robert wears many hats in the soccer community (and looks very good in all of them). The Hawks are very happy and extremely fortunate to have such a knowledgeable and dedicated coach to lead them to success..
